With powers conferred in him by the Republican constitution, the Malawi president, Lazarus Chakwera has finally released his 31 member cabinet.
A thing that has invited heavy condemnation from several political analysts is the inclusion of both Sidik Mia and his wife, Habida into the cabinet.
Almost all the analysts wondered as to why Chakwera can include a man and his wife in what he earlier described as a highly competitive Ministerial squad.
“How can Chakwera make such a political mistake, Malawi has a population of 17 million so why picking a man and his wife into that small cabinet, how special are they?” he asked
Apart from the ministers, the president has also made appointments of the new Reserve Bank Governor, Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA), Malawi Intelligence Agency boss and the new Police Inspector General.
