Government has gazetted rules and regulations, under Public Health Act,on mandatory wearing of face masks in public places as a measure to contain the novel Covid-19 pandemic.
Challenged with increasing numbers of Covid-19 positive cases as well as deaths, Minister of Health Khumbize Chiponda, in exercise of powers vested ib her under the Public Health Act, has today issued the subsidiary legislation on coronavirus and Covid-19 aimed at stopping the spread.
After playing some hide and seek on the matter, Government has been working on gazetting rules and regulations that would see to it that Malawians are wearing the Covid-19 face masks on mandatory basis in public spaces to contain the spread of Coronavirus.
Within the regulations, public gatherings are banned except during funerals or meetings of the National Assembly as well as meetings convened to discuss Covid-19 pandemic.
Ironically, themeasures have been imposed on the day when health personnel in the country has recorded no deaths, no new infections, 47 recoveries and no deaths.
