Government of Malawi is continuing playing hide and seek on the disclosure of patients suspected to have contracted coronavirus which causes the deadly Covid19.
The minister of health, Jappie Mhango on Monday refused to disclose the identity of the patients saying that will lead to stigmatization which is against medical ground rules.
In a related development, sanity has returned at Maula Prison where inmates refused remandees entry to the prison facility for fear of contracting coronavirus to them.
The problem resulted into unnecessary congestion at police cells in the capital city, Lilongwe.
Prison spokesperson says it took the prison authority to converged a meeting with convict section heads assuring the prisoners that those coming to prison only went to court and had no contact with people out there.
While Lilongwe police station says the decision made by the prisoners to accept suspects to prison has alleviated challenges which came about as a result of congestion in police cells.
