Human Rights Defenders Coalition (HRDC) leader, Timothy Mtambo has resigned from the Coalition and formed the formation of a Liberation and Transformation Movement called, Ctizens for Transformation (CFT) founded on values of human rights approach, rule of law among other.
Meanwhile, CFT is expected to campaign vigorously and campaign for transformation leaders who shall liberate Malawi from the impunities of corruption, failure to respect the rule of law and perennial hunger among others.
During the press conference held in the capital city this morning, Mtambo has openly endorsed the alliance between the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) and United Transformation Movement (UTM),
And here below is part of the speech Mtambo made when announcing the formation of the people powered movement:-
Fellow Comrades I greet you, it is with a heavy heart that I would like to Announce my resignation from the NGO based activism.
It is with Pains that i will no longer be your Chairperson. But I the Coalition will be left in responsible and capable hands.
I believe in the leadership of our Vice Chairperson. At board level we will be discussing the leadership and transition and we will communicate.
I am still in the struggle only that I have decided to deepen it further. Soon comrades I will be announcing my new journey.
I think with your support we will continue fighting for our great nation. We should never give up. I thank you all for your support during my leadership. You have been an amazing family. I will miss you all.
Meanwhile, there is no immediate response from other HRDC leaders on Mtambo’s resignation from the grouping and the subsequent formation of the CFT.
