The MV Ilala whose services were suspended since June this year resumes it’s normal operations on Friday.
The steamer vessel returns to it’s operations following successful discussions between the striking employees and the management of Malawi Shipping Company.
Confirming the development, the company’s public relations officer, Thomas Chafunya said all is set for the resumption of Ilala’s operations.
“Residents of Likoma and Chizumulu Islands and users of the MV Ilala can breath a sigh of relief as we resume our operations this Friday from Monkey-Bay in Mangochi District,” Chafunya said
He further said, all Covid-19 prevention measures will continue to be observed.
The 400 metric tonne passenger and goods service vessel, MV Ilala which has the capacity of 450 passengers started it’s operations on Lake Malawi in 1949.
