Notice of Vigil To all Concerned Teachers and Families..
We as concerned pvt school teachers presented our concerns to the office of the President on 7th July 2020. We are seeking for financial bail out from the government due to challenges we are facing as a result of closure of schools due to natural disasters befallen us in the name of COVID 19.
Due to closure of school in fear of COVID 19, we
👉 are no longer affording basic necessities for our homes
👉 are evicted from houses to such extent that we are staying in school blocks
👉 we are made laughing stocks in our communities dirting our profession.
As such we wrote the office of president a request for bail out on 7th July..
We made follow up on 16th July. Due to unconvincing response from the office responsible for delivering letter to the president, we delivered another letter seeking an audience with the president and on 23rd July we were responded to the 16th july letter which told us to wait for response from the president on 7th July letter.. However we were redirected to write the Minister Of education and take a step together..
We wrote the office of minister on 27th July and made a follow up on 31st July.. We were told that before the first week of August ends, the minister will phone us to table the issue on round table with her and hear us out.. To our surprise, the week ends with no call which prompted us to make a follow up on 6th August and only to be told minister is in meeting and will call us any day. However more painful thing is to be told that there are other issues on table namely
👉 Arrears for gvt teachers
👉 Promotions for gvt teachers
👉 Salary increment issues
👉 finally our issue at hand.
Looking to this, it has come to our attention that government is
👉 Failing to priotise our issue that dwellth within disaster
👉 playing seek and hide game
👉 Taking our concerns as useless
👉 Playing delaying Tactics to keep us knocking until schools get open
👉 Running away from its responsibility on citizens.
THE FACTS ABOUT US
👉 We are hit by disaster
👉 We are starving as we have no food in homes
👉 We are lacking shelter as landlords have evicted us from homes
👉 We are dying slowly of hunger, depression and stresses
👉 We must be treated with urgency and no need to delay in saving us as our mother.
On 6th August, we have been told to be called to meet minister within 6 to 7 August hours.. And failing to do so from the minister office, the team will hold vigil at all State houses to present our concerns to the President …
VIGIL ARRANGEMENTS
👉 Dates: 12 August to the date government will bail us out…
We Need Malawi that is peaceful to all citizens …
