In a bid to halt further transactions of the deadly coronavirus which causes Covid19, Lilongwe City Council has temporarily banned all forms of public parties.
In a press release made available to the media on Wednesday, signed by the council’s Chief Executive Officer, John Chome bans all forms of parties like bridal showers, send offs, street processions, bottle stores, weddings, all sports clubs and gyms.
The release further says “the council is expecting every individual to comply with the order, and the council will work with the police to make sure total compliance of the order by all relevant stakeholders,”
Meanwhile, government of Malawi has formulated a Mk150 billion national Covid19 Preparedness and response plan.
Principal Secretary and Commissioner for Disaster Management Affairs, Wilson Molen says the National Covid-19 preparedness and response plan has been developed to prevent further spread of the pandemic.
According to Molen, the overall clusters budget which includes issues to do with employment, food security, education among others has been pegged at K157 billion. He however says there is a deficit of about K148 billion.
