The Malawi Energy Regulatory Authority (Mera) has appointed Stan Chioko as its acting chief executive officer.

A memo seen by Vomi News 247 and signed by Mera Human Resources and Administration Manager Troy Mtenje says the appointment is effective August 12 2020.
Mtenje further says the current Mera CEO Collins Magalasi has proceeded on leav.
This comes against the background of a graft court case involving Magalasi and two other Mera employees.
Magalasi is alongside Mera public relations officer Patrick Maulidi, procurement officer Bright Mbewe and business person Dorophy Shonga accused of fraud of K107 million.
The criminal charges relate to procurement contract awarded to Shonga’s Vink Enterprises.
