This was genuinely right moment for DPP to win all lost souls, but unfortunately it looks the executive is becoming so clueless on simple matters that even a form two student can manage to solve.
With the revelations that the Blantyre city council is demanding Mk10,000.00 from poor traders who would want to do business during lockdown is a very shameful act from the highest order. These people need support from government not milking their poor little savings.
The Prime Minister of Ireland otherwise known as “Taoiseach” Leo Varadkar was humiliated handsomely in February 2020 elections. Fortunately, there was a period where winning parties were making meetings to form the next government as per Irish politics tradition and Leo’s name wasn’t part of the plan. Then boom, came the coronavirus and Leo was still the Prime Minister and took Ireland through the tough times by default to date.
And honestly, he has won the hearts of all people in Ireland in the way how he has managed the pandemic. I am surely sad with the way how simple things are being made difficult in Malawi. This was surely an opportunity for DPP to score goals ahead of fresh polls. This was the moment for APM’s name to be a darling among voters. This was the moment that those minibus drivers and vendors across Malawi should have applauded the President not demonstrating against him.
Conclusion:
Putting draconian measures using the army and police against your own citizens without considering their welfare is the biggest mistake you would ever make and you will pay for it. I have always loved your policies and will always do. But on this lockdown, i completely beg to differ and you don’t have MY SUPPORT unless you address the social welfare of your citizens during the 21 days lockdown.
