In compliance to its new strategic plan, the Malawi Police Service has established additional two new regional headquarters in the Central and Southern regions.
The new regional headquarters are Central East Regional Headquarters in Kasungu District and and South East Regional Headquarters in Luchenza Municipality.

National Police Publicist, James Kadadzera confirmed the development in an interview with local media saying that there are now six regional police headquarters in the country.
“Indeed we have now a total of of six police headquarters in the country which are already operational, we have done this in a bid to improve service delivery by being closer to members of the community,” Kadadzera said.
Several comentators on issues to do with security have commended the introduction of regional police headquarters and suggested the need to recruit and equip officers with knowledge and expertise to Coup up with the current trends.
Central East Headquartersl encompasses Kasungu, Khunga, Ntchisi, Nkhotskota, Salima, Mponela and Dowa Police stations while South East Regional Police Headquarters will be responsible for Mulanje, Thyolo, Luchenza, Chikwawa, NSANJE, Phalombe and Chiradzulu Police stations.
