Our investigation team can reveal that the Malawi High Commission in Johannesburg, South Africa offered Government houses for rent to the Zimbabweans.
An initial plan is to sale the houses to the country’s first lady, Getrude Mutharika with the aim of using the houses as retirement home for the first couple.

The sale was halted after this investigative reporter revealed it last year that President Peter Mutharika is preparing his retirement home in the rainbow nation across the Zambezi.
During the fact finding mission our source within the diplomatic team said, the Malawi consulate could even be funded for residential maintenances, but the works do not even take place but funds are withdrawn.
“A lot of funds were given to the Malawi consulate in the name of renovations. The auditors when they came this year found that the only renovations that took place was a brick fence of the Malawi property, it costed slightly over one million Rand per house,
“Those houses that were exposed by Malawi government in Johannesburg that they were listed for sale are now occupied by people from other nations at a very cheap price,
“They were not advertised to the Malawians staying in the rainbow nation because their motive is to sell these houses secretly. This is the same thing that happened with that presidential jet which was sold during the Joyce Banda’s tenure of office,” he concluded
The source also revealed that Mutharika is planning to stay in South Africa after retirement so as to get closer to either Garden City or Milpark Hospitals.
